What is Touch-type Read Spell? (TTRS?)
Finally, there’s a way for learners with special needs to regain the confidence they need to develop a growth mindset.
Before: They find it hard to read, write or spell. They may feel 'not smart enough' which isn’t true at all, they just learn differently.
After: Your child spends 15 mins a day typing on TTRS (without it feeling like a literacy lesson) …
And their spelling and reading skills improve, along with their typing!
See how TTRS changes your child’s learning progress forever!
Bite-sized learning broken down into 5-minute modules.
How and what your child learns at each stage
Step 1
Audio, keyboard and hand prompts, to help them learn
The course starts with the basics of English spelling, beginning with the vowels.
A, E, I, O, U
The audio track accompanies the letters as they appear on screen, reinforcing sound-letter correspondence. The moving on-screen hands teach basic typing skills.
Step 2
Groups of words to present English spelling patterns
The student follows a phonics-based curriculum, beginning with short vowel patterns.
Learners type groups of words and learn common English sounds, letter combinations and spelling conventions - along with the correct hand position for typing.
Sight words are presented regularly and taught using repetition.
Step 3
Hearing, seeing and typing to help them remember
The multi-sensory approach helps students master the building blocks of English phonics and remember the spelling of new words.
They hear the words and see the words on screen, as they are prompted to type them.
Through repetition and developing muscle memory, your child can see improvements in their learning.
Hearing, seeing and typing moves words from short-term to long-term memory.
3 Different scenarios, 3 easy steps
For Home
Have your children learn on their own without it feeling like homework - with minimal supervision.
The main course can be used as a touch-typing tool for age 7 years upwards and is suitable for all levels of literacy. It is appropriate for primary and secondary-aged children all the way through to adult learners (with below Entry Level 1 literacy skills up to age 16+).
TTRS can help learners with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, autism, dyspraxia and more. It's also a great tool for individuals without learning differences who would like to develop their typing and spelling skills.
Yes, every home subscription comes with an administrator account for easy access to results and graphs showing learner progress. There is also a free TTRS Reporting app, so usage and performance can be tracked on your smartphone.

For Homeschoolers
Expertly teach your children without spending hours creating your own resources. Let TTRS do the work for you.
No! With TTRS reading and spelling help is built into the course so learners improve skills by repeatedly typing groups of words with common spelling patterns. This means a child or young-adult can simply focus on learning how to type, instead of being embarrassed about using a program that provides literacy instruction. This in turn helps with motivation.
The multi-sensory typing method used by TTRS involves hearing a sound, seeing it on the screen and typing the corresponding keys, combining diverse sensory input to enhance learning and make words more memorable. When used in conjunction with tailored strategy instruction, TTRS can make a big difference in the reading and spelling ability of learners with dyslexia. TTRS is a British Dyslexia Association Assured product.
It depends on the learner, but after a few modules most parents find their child is able to complete work independently. In fact, that’s one of the things parents like most about TTRS! The program opens directly to the last completed module, which minimises the chances that time is lost looking through menus and encourages a quick start to every session.
Many learners have found success using the TTRS Course. However, we understand that no two individuals are the same so if after some time you find your child is not making progress and the program is not a good fit, just get in touch with our team and we’ll send you a full refund.
